  • Quiz Kerala 50

    In connection with the Golden Jubilee of Kerala Piravi, a quiz competition was held. 2 students each from 4 houses participated. Fr Davis Thomas was the quiz master.

    VIDYARAMBHAM

    After all the students have joined the college we had the VIDYARAMBHAM, formal inauguration of the academic year with the lighting of the lamp and pledge by all the students and faculty. It was a solemn function with readings from different Sacred Scriptures. There had self-introduction by all the staff and students. We sang for the first time our college anthem which was written by Dr Cyriac Kanichai and the music given by our Faculty member, Mr Baiju Mathew. Thanks and congratulations to both.

     

    College Magazine Released

    It was the culmination of a prolonged work. Our College annual was released on 14th September. Old and new students were present on the occasion. Dr C.L. Joshy, Syndicate member of Calicut University was the chief guest. He released the magazine by handing it over to the Principal. Rev Fr Manager, Principal, Shri M.P.Jerome Master, (the GTA president) Rev Fr Davis Thomas (Staff advisor), Mr Byju Mathew (Staff editor), Syji V.J. (Student editor) and Jince Josepaul (Chairman) spoke on the occasion.  

    Merit Day

    Merit day was celebrated together with the releasing of the magazine. The toppers were congratulated.
    After the tea party the old students association was constituted. Jince Josepaul, Babu Joseph and Joly P.J. were unanimously elected as President, Organizer and Secretary respectively.

    Onam Celebrations

    The harvest feast of Onam was celebrated in the college on 31st of August with all its gaiety.  We had competitions for Pookalam and then a variety of entertainments. Onasadya was served to all. Fr Manager and Principal spoke on the occasion 

     

       

       
       
     

    College Anthem

    We are into our second year and this year we have our own college anthem. It was written by Rev Fr Dr Cyriac Kanichai and the music was given by Mr. Baiju Mathew, our faculty member. We sang it for the first time on the day of Vidyarambham and is being sung regularly in the morning assembly. Three cheers to the lyricist and the composer!!

     

    Teaching Practice - Nov 08 to Dec 08 – 2006

    Our student teachers got the real life experience of their profession through practice teaching. They were sent to different schools from November 08 to December 08 of 2006. Earlier faculty members visited those schools to talk to the head of the institutions in order to arrange the practice teaching. During the teaching period the teachers visited them to observe and evaluate the classes.

     

     

    College Union Election

     

    Following the usual procedure of filing of the nomination, withdrawal and the like, we held the college union election on 15th Dec. 2006. The following were elected to different posts:

    Christmas Celebrations

     

    Christmas was celebrated on 22nd December before closing for the Christmas holidays. Manager and Principal gave Christmas messages. Tableau, Carol singing, gift exchange and selection of the Christmas Child of 2006 were the highlights. Students prepared Christmas tree and crib.

       
       
       
     

     

     

    Meeting of Alumni Association

     

    As had decided last year the first meeting of the alumni association was held on the second Saturday of January 2007. About 35 old students turned up. Manager, Principal and staff members were present. A gift was presented to the college as had decided earlier. It was a homecoming for our first batch and their sharing and free mingling was very nostalgic.

     

     

    Inauguration of the College Union - 15 January 2007

    It was a day of solemnity and merry-making. The morning session was the solemn inauguration of the college union and Fine Arts Association. Sri. Jayraj Warrier, famous caricaturist and Mrs Kavitha Balakrishnan, Lecturer, Fine Arts College, Thrissur were the guests. Both of them and other guests were received in the traditional way. Mrs. Kavitha Balakrishnan inaugurated the College Union and Sri. Jayraj Warrier inaugurated the Fine Arts Association with the lighting of the lamp. Sri. Jajray presented some caricature in his own unique style. Manager, Principal, GTA president and the staff advisor spoke on the occasion. Sr. Reena Ittyachan, the chairperson and Lijo Joseph, the General Secretary successfully managed the programme.
    Afternoon session was the time of celebration and merry-making. Students presented a cultural pageantry, which was well appreciated by all.

       
       
       
       
       
       
       
     

     

     

    We have Our Own Building

     

    It was our long cherished dream to have own building. The new College building was inaugurated and blessed on 26th January 2007,the Republic Day, by our Prior General, Rev Dr. Fr Antony Kariyil CMI. It was done together with the annual day of the schools. Our students sang the college anthem and put up two cultural items on the occasion. Staff and students came together to decorate the college before inauguration.

     

     

    Half Yearly Examination

     

    As the university did away with the semester system this year, we conducted a half-yearly examination from 31st January to 2nd of February. It gave the students a feel of what is to come at the end of the year.

       

    College Tour 

     

    The long awaited and ever cherished College Tour was to Hyderabad, the City of  Charminar, Golkonda fort and Ramoji Film City. 81 students students and 9 faculty members boarded the Sabari Express on 12th February 2007. It was the Second trip for most of the staff members. Hence the management was easy and the students benefited more from it. Two full day and two half days in Hyderabad were days of enjoyment and mery-making. Laser show NTR Gardens, Golkonda Fort,Light and sound show, Ramoji Film City, Charminar, Salarjung Museum and much more ---------- students enjoyed to the full. Pearl shopping by the girls at the residence was more homely than commercial. Thank Lord, we all returned as planned and no unpleasant incident troubled us.

       
       
    Community Living Camp 
    Three days of community living camp was well arranged and enjoyed by all. The opening session was inaugurated by Sri. O K Joseph, Headmaster of High School. The day long class  by     Prof.  Gokul  Das  N  N was very informative and interesting.       Prof Chacko Kakkassery spoke on Transanctional Analysis with lot of group activities and demonstrations.  Bingo game that went late into midnight was enjoyed  by all.

    The second day was filled with different activities like warm-up exercises, relaxation techniques, group games and C D shows. The class  on "Trip to Moon" by Sri Abdul Gafoor gave us an experience of life in the space and landing on the moon. After noon session of "Trip to Hyderabad" was a rerun of our Hyderabad Tour. The camp-fire at the end of the second day was very relaxing and refreshing.

    The final day was spent on dismantling and rearranging. The open sharing by students and faculty in the evaluation session brought to light the plus and minuses of the camp. The camp was an occasion to all the students to get first hand experience of planning and implementing different activities.

    ST  JOSEPH'S AT ALL INDIA RADIO

    The students of our college put up a variety of cultural programmes of 25 minutes for 'Vanitha Vedi of All India Radio, Thrissur.  The students and the faculty members went to the Radio Station and the programme were recorded on 31st March 2007.  The programme was telecast on  Good Friday evening  which was appreciated by all .  congratulations  to all the participants.
